You know what really caught me off guard about Himmapana Villas – Hills? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – these villas are literally carved into the hillside in a way that feels almost organic. I mean, I’ve stayed at plenty of four-star places that talk about being “one with nature,” but this one actually delivers on that promise without being all pretentious about it.

The whole setup is honestly pretty clever. Each villa has this incredible sense of privacy because of how they’re positioned on different levels of the hill – you can’t really see your neighbors, which is rare in most resort settings. What really impressed me was the attention to the small stuff that most places overlook. The outdoor shower in my villa had this amazing stone floor that stayed cool even in the afternoon heat, and there’s this little detail where they’ve positioned mirrors to catch the morning light just right. Actually, the whole place has this thing about natural light – lots of windows and openings that make the indoor spaces feel way bigger than they are.

I’ll be honest, the 9.3 rating makes total sense once you experience the service level. It’s not that over-the-top resort style where staff hover around you constantly – it’s more like they anticipate what you need before you realize it yourself. The villa I stayed in had this perfect little kitchenette setup, and I discovered they’d stocked it with local ingredients I’d never heard of but ended up loving. The infinity pool situation is pretty spectacular too, though fair warning – it gets busy around sunset because everyone wants those Instagram shots (and honestly, you will too). The best time to have it mostly to yourself is early morning, around 7 AM, when the mist is still hanging over the hills and you feel like you’re swimming in the clouds. There’s something about the way the architecture works with the landscape here that just clicks – like whoever designed this place actually spent time understanding how the light moves across these hills throughout the day. It’s those kinds of thoughtful touches that make you want to extend your stay, which I actually ended up doing.

Hotel in Phuket booking should be done early, especially during high season when the island hosts internationally celebrated beach parties and cultural festivals at Patong Beach and other iconic locations.

  Himmapana villas-Hills are situated about 25 minute walk distance away from Kamala Beach and about 20 minute from the main busy road. It is a bit up to the mountain but only the very last end of the road. The staf was really friendly and helpful. They communicate via Whatsapp instantly. Our plane back to home was in the evening, so they let us use the reception area for our baggages and we had possibility take a shower before leaving. The houses are really large and isolated well. Everything look rather new and clean. Beds are comfortable. The rooms are cleaned every day, linens and towels are changed every second day. There are complementary water bottles in the fridge. You can order breakfast and meals and massages and transportation via onsite ipad, The pool is really refreshing, especially after walking back from the beach in the evenings and then jump in. Although it is possible to book free shuttle to go around Kamala area.
