I’ll be honest, when I first pulled up to Hilton Garden Inn Phuket Bang Tao, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how some hotel chains can feel a bit cookie-cutter. But this four-star property actually surprised me in the best way possible. It sits right in the Bang Tao area, which is honestly one of my favorite spots in Phuket because it hasn’t been completely overrun by tourists yet. The beach here stretches for miles, and you can still find quiet sections where it’s just you and the sound of waves hitting the sand.

What really got me was how the hotel manages to feel both polished and relaxed at the same time. The lobby has this airy, tropical vibe without being too themed (if you know what I mean – no fake palm trees or cheesy tiki bars). The rooms are spacious and well-designed, with those floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open, which is rarer than you’d think in newer hotels. I mean, there’s something about getting that real ocean breeze instead of just cranked-up air conditioning. The bed was genuinely comfortable too – I’m picky about mattresses, and this one hit that sweet spot between firm and soft. Plus, they’ve got proper work desks if you need to catch up on emails, though honestly, you probably won’t want to.

The pool area is where I spent most of my downtime, and it’s got this perfect balance where families can enjoy it during the day, but it doesn’t turn into a zoo. By evening, it gets quieter and you can actually hear yourself think. The staff here really knows their stuff – they’ll point you toward the local night market (about a ten-minute walk) where you can get incredible pad thai for like 60 baht, or they’ll arrange a longtail boat to take you island hopping. Speaking of location, you’re close enough to Laguna complex if you want more dining options, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with crowds every time you step outside. The whole area has this laid-back energy that I think captures what people are really looking for when they come to Thailand – it’s authentic without being too rough around the edges, and modern without losing that tropical charm that makes Phuket special in the first place.

  The staff topped everything of the experience. This is a no frills hotel, and located at a very very convenient place on Bang Tao beach. I was personally travelling as a pass through guest after a few days on a liveaboard, however the staff were super helpful with everything from helping with airport drops, inter city drops and appointments. Great place to just unwind centrally.
