But after spending a few nights there, I actually get it. There’s something genuinely unpretentious about this three-star spot that just works.

The thing that struck me right away was how the staff seemed to actually enjoy their jobs, which – let’s face it – isn’t always the case at mid-range hotels. Check-in was smooth (no weird upselling tactics), and they gave me practical advice about the area without me having to ask. The rooms are clean and comfortable in that reassuring way where everything functions properly but isn’t trying to be Instagram-perfect. I mean, the carpet’s got some wear and the bathroom fixtures are clearly from a few renovations ago, but honestly? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a place that feels lived-in rather than sterile.

What really won me over was the attention to small details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building (I tested it in the lobby, my room, and even the hallway because I’m paranoid about these things). The walls are thick enough that I didn’t hear my neighbors’ TV or conversations, which is huge for me as a light sleeper. Parking was straightforward – no circling the block or dealing with valet situations. The breakfast setup is nothing fancy, but they keep it well-stocked and the coffee is actually decent, not that watery hotel stuff that tastes like it’s been sitting there since dawn. I noticed they had real butter for the toast, which sounds silly but shows they’re paying attention. The whole place has this relaxed energy where you can tell the management focuses on getting the basics right rather than chasing trends. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with luxury touches or trendy design elements, but sometimes you just want a comfortable base where everything works as it should. For the price point and the solid 7.1 rating it’s earned, I’d definitely stay here again – especially if I’m looking for somewhere reliable without any drama.

  The room was bigger than I was expecting. A good kitchen area with a hob, fridge, and a proper freezer, kitchen table with comfortable stools. The lounge and bedroom were comfortable with plenty of storage. Very nicely done. Great location. A nice walk or short drive to the beach. Tops supermarket 150 metres away on the main road. The staff were very friendly with a great sense of humour, thank you, ka.
