The AC works well, which is crucial because Patong gets pretty sticky, especially in the afternoons. One thing I appreciated was how quiet it stays at night despite being in the heart of everything – the windows actually block out most of the street noise, so you can actually get some sleep.

What really stands out about Gu Hotel is that it feels like they’re trying harder than they need to for a mid-range place. The towels are always fresh, housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive, and there’s this small but thoughtful touch where they leave bottles of water that actually stay cold. I stayed during peak season and while the place was busy, it never felt chaotic or overwhelmed like some of the bigger resorts in the area. The pool area is compact but well-maintained, perfect for cooling off when the heat gets too much – though honestly, you’ll probably spend more time at the beach anyway. For the price point, especially considering you’re right in the thick of Patong without paying resort prices, it’s solid value. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if I wanted to be central but not completely overwhelmed by the scene.
