I stumbled across it during one of those shoulder season trips to Phuket when everything decent was either booked solid or priced like a small mortgage payment.

The thing is, Bang Tao isn’t one of those areas where you just randomly end up – you sort of have to know it’s there, tucked away from the main tourist circus. The villa itself sits in this quiet residential pocket where you’ll hear roosters in the morning instead of tour buses revving up, which honestly was exactly what I needed after a few days in the madness of Patong. Four bedrooms means it’s clearly designed for groups or families, and I mean, even if you’re not filling all the space, there’s something luxurious about having room to spread out. The living areas flow together in that easy tropical way, with those big sliding doors that basically disappear so you’re never quite sure where inside ends and outside begins.

What I really appreciated – and this might sound weird – was how normal it felt. Like, you’re not staying in some Instagram fever dream with infinity pools hanging off cliffs, but you’re also not roughing it. The kitchen actually works if you want to grab groceries from the local market (there’s a great one about ten minutes away where the vendors will remember your face after day two), and the bedrooms are spacious enough that you won’t feel like you’re camping indoors. The air conditioning works properly too, which, honestly, in a three-star place in Thailand isn’t always a given. I’ve learned to test every unit on arrival because nothing ruins a tropical vacation like sweating through your sheets at 3 AM. The whole place has this lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than checking boxes on a hotel amenities list. Bang Tao beach is close enough for morning walks, but far enough that you won’t have vendors trying to sell you sarongs every five minutes. It’s that sweet spot where you can actually relax without constantly being reminded you’re a tourist with money to spend.

  The rooms were nice and big, plus each having it's own bathroom was such a bonus. The two upstairs had deep baths and balconies – great for relaxing. The airco worked exceptionally well in all areas which was such a relief in the heat. We arrived quite late after reception was closed and it was no hassle getting our keys to the villa from security on site. Great communication from the staff, who were more than happy to answer all questions (using whatsapp which SO handy!). Having the pool was a blessing to cool off in the heat – especially after a day of activities and in the evening. It was a short taxi or tuktuk ride to the supermarket, night market, beach, etc so location wise was reasonable.
