Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first pulled up to Dwell Phuket Airport Hotel at Naiyang, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star airport hotel. You know how those can be, right? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The thing about staying near Naiyang Beach is that you’re sort of in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the airport that you can literally hear planes taking off (which, weirdly, I found kind of soothing), but you’re also just a short walk from one of Phuket’s most underrated beaches. I mean, everyone’s rushing off to Patong or Kata, but Naiyang has this laid-back local vibe that honestly feels more authentic. The hotel sits right in that zone where you can grab a late-night som tam from the street vendors nearby – and trust me, the papaya salad lady about two blocks down makes it exactly how the locals like it, with enough chilies to make you sweat.

What I really appreciated about this place was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting the basics right. The rooms aren’t fancy – we’re talking clean, functional spaces with decent air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a jet engine – but everything worked. The shower had proper water pressure, the Wi-Fi didn’t cut out every five minutes, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable for what you’re paying. There’s this little pool area that gets pretty quiet in the evenings, which is perfect if you’re dealing with jet lag and just want to decompress. I spent a good hour there one night just watching the planes come in for landing, which sounds boring but was actually kind of mesmerizing. The only thing that bugged me was the breakfast – it’s pretty standard Thai hotel fare, nothing terrible but nothing to write home about either. You’re better off walking to that little morning market near the beach entrance where you can get fresh fruit and proper Thai coffee for half the price.

What really sold me on this place, though, was the location for what it is. If you’re flying in late or out early, you literally cannot beat the convenience – you’re maybe ten minutes from the terminal, but you’re also right there when Naiyang Beach is at its best in the early morning. I’m talking about those perfect golden hour walks before the day gets hot and the tour groups show up. Plus, there’s something to be said for a hotel that doesn’t try to be more than it is. This isn’t some resort trying to justify inflated prices with mediocre “luxury” touches. It’s a solid, well-run airport hotel that happens to be positioned where you can actually enjoy Phuket a bit, even if you’re just passing through.

  The staff was nice and helpful. We were able to check in late in the evening, and they were waiting for us. The room was clean. The staircase is also very clean as they do not let shoes in the house, which is good. They also offer free beach mats. The hotel is also within close walking distance to the night market, beach, and 7/11 🙂

  Beach mat can be borrowed from the hotel. No need to buy. Plate and bowl with cutlery are provided in the room for eating self bought food. Only 5 mins walking to beach.
