I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The whole Laguna complex can feel a bit overwhelming with all the different resorts clustered together, but this five-star property actually surprised me in the best way. It sits right on Bang Tao Beach, and I mean right on it – you walk out of the lobby area and you’re basically stepping onto this gorgeous stretch of sand that somehow doesn’t feel as crowded as some of the busier beaches further south.

The thing that struck me most was how they’ve managed to blend Thai hospitality with that polished luxury feel without it feeling forced, you know? The staff genuinely seems to care, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re dealing with the usual travel stress. The rooms are spacious – I stayed in one of the lagoon-facing ones and woke up to this peaceful water view every morning. The beds are actually comfortable too, which might sound basic but you’d be surprised how many supposedly high-end places get that wrong. What I really appreciated was the bathroom setup; they’ve got both a deep soaking tub and a separate rain shower, and the water pressure is fantastic. Small details, but they matter when you’re trying to wash off a day of exploring Phuket.

The pools are definitely a highlight – there’s this main lagoon-style pool that winds around the property, and it connects to some of the other Laguna resorts, which is pretty cool if you want to wander around. I spent a lot of time at their beachfront, though. Bang Tao isn’t as party-heavy as Patong, so it’s perfect if you want to actually relax and hear yourself think. The resort sits in this prime spot where you can easily walk to some decent local restaurants – there’s this little Thai place about ten minutes down the beach that locals actually eat at, which is always a good sign. The hotel’s restaurants are solid too, especially their Thai restaurant, though honestly, I found myself venturing out for dinner most nights because the local scene is just too good to miss. One thing to keep in mind – if you’re planning to explore the island a lot, grabbing a taxi or renting a scooter is pretty essential since you’re a bit removed from the main tourist areas. But that distance is also what makes it special; you get that resort bubble feeling when you want it, but real Phuket is still accessible when you’re ready to dive in.

  The hotel was wonderful – it felt authentic to the Thai culture and values and the staff were wonderful.
  
  Opened in 1987 its build and design quality has stood the test of time! The layout of the reception, Horizon lounge and communal entrance offering a direct view to the beach was very impressive!
  
  The bedrooms had USB sockets as well as the main power sockets for charging.
  
  All meals (breakfast included) lunch ( pool cafe) and dinner (room service) taken at the property were excellent value and quality. Staff were attentive warm and caring to guest needs. Option to purchase drinks and snacks on the beach from beach stalls at excellent value.
  
  Wonderful surroundings and fabulous central location for Laguna and the coast. We took the bus to the edge of the Laguna and walked into Porto Phuket which was easy and approximately 20 minute walk. Fantastic selection of local bars and cafes to trial!

  We had a fantastic stay at Dusit Thani Laguna. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Our room was spacious, spotless, and included a cozy balcony with a partial ocean view. The beach was just steps away, perfect for swimming and unwinding.
  
  Breakfast was outstanding, with a wide variety of delicious options, and the resort’s beautiful decor and lush flowers added to the serene ambiance. While the on-site restaurants were excellent but pricey, there are some nice local dining options within walking distance.
  
  We highly recommend Dusit resort for a peaceful and relaxing getaway!

  A nice hotel but dated. Unfortunately, during our stay there was refurbishment works taking place which detracted from the overall experience, as the lobby area was scaffolded off and some F&B was closed. However, the location is great and is an easy walk into Bang Tao.

  The area is huge and it’s beautiful . U can find a quiet corner away from crowd if you need. Close to the small shopping area.
