I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to 3 Double U – Kalim Sea View, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty modest building tucked away in Kalim. But you know what? Sometimes those unassuming places end up surprising you in the best ways, and this three-star spot definitely falls into that category.

The thing about Kalim is that it’s sort of Patong’s quieter cousin – close enough that you can walk to all the action (maybe 10-15 minutes if you don’t mind a bit of a stroll), but far enough removed that you actually get some peace when you want it. The hotel sits right where you can catch those gorgeous Andaman Sea views, and honestly, that’s where this place really shines. I mean, sure, it’s not going to compete with the fancy resorts down the coast, but when you’re sipping your morning coffee and watching the fishing boats head out at dawn, you sort of forget about thread counts and marble bathrooms. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but they’ve got that essential air conditioning that works (trust me, you’ll appreciate this), and the sea view rooms actually deliver on their promise. I stayed in one facing the water and could hear the waves at night, which was pretty perfect for falling asleep.

What I really liked about this place was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about making sure you had what you needed. The front desk folks were helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations, and they knew the local tuk-tuk drivers by name, which always tells you something about a place. Parking was easy enough – no fighting for spots like you get in central Patong – and the whole vibe was just relaxed. You’ll find a decent little restaurant downstairs that does solid Thai food (the pad thai was actually better than some places I’ve paid twice as much for), and they’re pretty flexible about breakfast timing if you’re not an early riser. The location works really well if you want to explore both the busier tourist areas and some of the more local spots – there’s a great little market just a few minutes’ walk away where you can grab fresh fruit and snacks without paying hotel prices. I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for something genuine and unpretentious, with that sea view bonus that makes everything feel a bit more special.

    Awesome property super close to Patong beach. Rooms were very comfortable and there was enough space for 7 people to stay in one apartment. The rooftop areas can be opened up if you’ve booked two apartments so great for two big groups.
