When I first walked in, I was struck by how… well, normal everything felt. Not in a bad way, mind you – more like staying at that reliable friend’s place who always has clean towels and decent coffee.

The four-star rating feels about right here. You’re getting solid comfort without the pretension that sometimes comes with fancier properties. The rooms are clean and functional – I mean, the air conditioning actually works properly (which honestly, after some of my other experiences, felt like a small miracle), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. Nothing groundbreaking, but you’ll sleep well. What I appreciated most was how quiet it stayed at night, even when there were families with kids around. The walls seem thick enough to actually block out your neighbors, which is rarer than it should be these days.

The staff definitely tries hard, though you can tell they’re still getting used to the whole SHA Plus certification thing – there’s a lot of protocol checking and form filling that slows things down a bit at check-in. But once you’re settled, they’re genuinely helpful. The breakfast spread is… okay, honestly. Nothing to write home about, but it’ll get you going in the morning. I actually ended up exploring the local street food scene more because of it, which turned out to be a happy accident. The hotel’s location puts you close enough to some really authentic spots that most tourists miss entirely. There’s this little noodle place about a ten-minute walk away that the front desk guy recommended – turns out he was absolutely right about it being worth the detour. You know what really sold me on this place though? It’s those small touches that show someone’s actually paying attention. Fresh orchids in the lobby that get replaced regularly, not just left to wilt. Elevators that arrive quickly. Housekeeping that doesn’t just dump new towels on your bed but actually folds them properly. The kind of details that make a difference when you’re trying to unwind after long days of exploring.

  Staff were very attentive, Khun Gem was very responsive to our needs and requests and went above and beyond to resolve any issues.
  Kitchen staff and Chef were very welcoming and accommodating, even making pancakes daily for my son as a special request.
  Dara is perfectly situated for those with transport in Phuket. We had a van, and found that Dara was great to access all of the island, very central, and close to the charm of the old Phuket Town. The Movie/Hollywood theme of Dara sets it apart from other hotels, and gives it a unique character.
