You’re genuinely in the sweet spot here, close enough to hear the ocean if you crack the windows at night but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of beach vendors and tour groups during the day. The walk to Bangtao Beach takes maybe seven minutes, and there’s this little shortcut through a side street that most tourists never figure out. Plus, you’re actually within walking distance of some of the better local restaurants – not just the touristy beachfront places, but spots where you’ll see Thai families eating dinner.

What impressed me about this three-star place is how thoughtfully it’s set up. The bedroom has proper blackout curtains (thank god, because the streetlights in this area are pretty bright), and whoever furnished it clearly understood that people need more than just a bed and a mini-fridge. There’s actual counter space in the kitchen area, decent water pressure in the shower, and – this might sound silly but it matters – enough electrical outlets that you’re not constantly juggling phone chargers and laptop cords. The AC works really well too, which you’ll appreciate during those sticky afternoon hours when even the locals are hiding indoors. I will say the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty during peak evening hours when everyone’s streaming, but it’s fine for basic stuff and honestly, you’re in Bangtao – maybe it’s good to disconnect a little. The only real downside is parking if you’re renting a scooter; there’s space but it fills up quickly, so you might end up parking a block away during busy periods.
