I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Most people think of beachfront resorts when they picture Phuket, but this four-star place sits right in the heart of town, and you know what? That’s actually its biggest strength.

The thing about staying in Phuket Town is that you get this authentic slice of local life that the beach hotels just can’t offer. I mean, you’re walking distance from the weekend night market on Thalang Road – and trust me, that’s where you’ll find the best mango sticky rice for about a tenth of what resort restaurants charge. The hotel itself feels refreshingly unpretentious compared to some of the flashier options around the island. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without trying too hard, and the staff actually remembers your name after the first day (which honestly surprised me). My room was on the sixth floor, and while it wasn’t huge, everything worked perfectly – decent water pressure, reliable air conditioning, and a bed that didn’t leave me complaining about my back.

What really sold me on this place, though, was how it connects you to the real Phuket. You can walk to the Sino-Portuguese shophouses on Dibuk Road in about ten minutes, grab incredible coffee at one of those tiny local spots that don’t even have English signs, then be back at the pool before it gets too crowded. The hotel’s location means you’re close enough to catch a songthaew or tuk-tuk to any beach without the inflated prices you’d pay at beachfront properties. Patong is maybe 20 minutes away, but honestly, after spending time in town, the chaos there feels a bit much. Parking was surprisingly easy – they’ve got their own garage, which is a godsend if you decide to rent a scooter and explore the island properly. The breakfast spread was solid too, mixing international options with some local dishes (though I’d still recommend sneaking out to try the roti from that street vendor near the municipal market). Look, this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll spend your entire vacation lounging by an infinity pool, but if you want to actually experience Phuket beyond the tourist bubble while still having a comfortable, reliable base, the Courtyard hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  Great location as it’s just in the middle of Phuket town! Lots to shop and eat within walking distance. We got an upgrade to a bigger room (family room) and it was spacious, clean, and well decorated. Bed, pillows, and blanket are very comfortable. Nice big window. Big bathroom as well. Breakfast selection was AWESOME! There’s a designated coffee bar with a barista! Great value for the money. Will be staying there again.

  The breakfast and the location right in the center of Phuket Old Town. Great to walk around at night, and near street food. The hotel is modern and the breakfast was the best I've ever experienced, since the drinks station was something extraordinary.
