I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Club22 Kamala Suites, Kamala Beach, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this three-star property. But you know what? Sometimes the places that don’t try too hard end up surprising you the most.

The thing about staying in Kamala is that you’re getting this perfect middle ground between the chaos of Patong and the sleepiness of some of the northern beaches. Club22 sits right in that sweet spot where you can actually hear the waves at night instead of just tuk-tuks honking. The suites themselves are honestly bigger than I expected – I mean, when places say “suites” these days, you never really know, right? But these actually have separate living areas that don’t feel like an afterthought. The kitchenette was surprisingly well-equipped too, which saved me a fortune since eating out every meal in Phuket can seriously dent your budget.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting things right. The front desk guy (I think his name was Niran) knew exactly which local restaurants to avoid and which ones were worth the walk down to the main road. He steered me toward this little seafood place that definitely doesn’t look like much from the outside but serves the best tom yum I had during my entire Thailand trip. The pool area gets decent morning sun if you’re an early riser, though it does get pretty packed around 2 PM when families start showing up – not a huge deal, but worth timing your swim accordingly. One small thing that bugged me was the WiFi being a bit spotty in the evenings, probably because everyone’s streaming Netflix after beach days, but it worked fine for checking emails and posting the occasional Instagram story. The location really is the star here though – you’re maybe a seven-minute walk to that gorgeous stretch of Kamala Beach where the sand actually stays clean, and there’s a 7-Eleven practically next door for those late-night snack runs we all end up making. If you’re planning to explore other parts of the island, the red songthaews stop right at the bottom of the hill, though honestly, grabbing a scooter rental makes way more sense if you’re comfortable riding one.

  The location, the view of the little balcony and especially the rooftop! The general store open late right below, the room was extremely spacious with Netflix etc. Room was nice and clean and the owner is a nice guy!

  Clubb22 is a lovely and fair priced hotel. All staff were wonderful and particularly the co owner Sal who runs the rooftop bar, a great chill spot for a drink! she a great cook too! They have a handy shop connected, altogether a really great place! I recommend:)

  The hotel checked all the boxes. Amazing location – everything you need is close by. Rooms are clean and spacious with a beautiful view. The kitchen is really good – we believe that the best mango sticky rice you can have in this hotel. They have mini Market too which is a plus. Owners are really cool and friendly. You will love the stay there.
