Chamil House (ชามิล เฮ้าส์) Overview
I’ll be honest, Chamil House (ชามิล เฮ้าส์) caught me completely off guard. You know how sometimes you book a place based purely on reviews and cross your fingers? Well, this three-star spot turned out to be one of those happy surprises that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special before everyone else does.
The first thing that struck me was how genuinely welcoming the staff are – and I mean that in the best possible way, not the overly rehearsed hospitality you get at some places. They actually seem to care about making sure you’re comfortable, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re navigating a new place. The rooms themselves are way cleaner and more thoughtfully set up than I expected. I mean, sure, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities, but everything works properly (the AC actually cools the room, imagine that), and there’s this attention to small details that you notice after a day or two. The bedding is genuinely comfortable – not those scratchy sheets that make you wish you’d packed your own.
What really won me over, though, is how the place feels authentically local without being touristy about it. You’re staying somewhere that feels connected to the real rhythm of the area, if that makes sense. The neighborhood around it has this lived-in quality where you can actually see how people go about their daily lives. I found myself walking around in the evenings just to soak up the atmosphere – there are these little food stalls nearby that become absolutely essential once you discover them, and honestly, some of the best meals I had were from those random spots I probably never would have found staying somewhere more centrally located and obvious. The whole area gets this nice buzz in the evenings without being overwhelmingly noisy, though if you’re someone who needs complete silence, maybe pack earplugs just in case.
Here’s the thing that really sealed it for me – the value is incredible. When I saw that 8.8 rating, I was a bit skeptical because sometimes those numbers can be inflated, but after spending several nights there, I totally get it. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. The check-in process was smooth, the common areas are kept spotless, and there’s this overall sense that the place is well-managed by people who actually care about the experience their guests have. You’ll probably end up chatting with other travelers in the lobby or near the entrance, which adds to that community feel that’s harder to find at bigger, more impersonal places. If you’re looking for somewhere that gives you a genuine taste of local life while still being comfortable and reliable, this place absolutely delivers.

An amazing spot to stay while you wait to sail off from the main marina. It is excellent walking distance to everything important.
The accommodation offered airport to location taxi service and was very helpful to video chat with me while I found my driver to ensure I was picked up by the correct driver.

Location = perfect after the craziness of Patong. This was the local life I was looking for.
Some nice restaurants and bars closeby, perfect for a night or 2.
The shower was honestly the best I've had in a while here.
The staff is very friendly and offers you to help with everything. I'm a capable man, but even a capable man forgets his chargers sometimes. Luckely the owner cane out of the house immediatly.
9/10, would def stay again!
For the crazy prices in Phuket, this is an absolute steal.Michael from United Kingdom (9/10)
We needed a budget place to stay overnight before joining a yacht trip at the marina. This was just right for our needs. Clean, comfortable bed. There are limited facilities near the marina but we had a good lunch at the Deck Restaurant at the harbour and a bargain Thai dinner at the quirky but friendly Mama and Papa restaurant. There is also a small Saturday morning market from 6.30am to 10am where we had a low key breakfast and bought a few gifts.

The staff were very helpful, from clear entry instructions, local restaurant advice and help booking transport to the airport. The room was very clean and kettle was much appreciated. Location is perfect for the marina.
