This five-star property sits right in the heart of Phuket’s Laguna area, but instead of feeling like another cookie-cutter luxury hotel, it has this laid-back, almost residential vibe that I wasn’t expecting.

The whole place is designed around these gorgeous lagoon pools that wind between low-rise buildings – I mean, you can literally swim from your room‘s terrace right into the main pool system. It sounds gimmicky when you first hear about it, but walking around at dusk with the water reflecting all these warm lights… it’s pretty magical. The rooms themselves feel more like stylish apartments than hotel rooms, which makes sense since a lot of guests end up staying for weeks rather than just a few nights. I loved having a proper kitchenette – not that you need to cook much with all the dining options around Laguna, but it’s nice having the option to grab some local fruit from the market and not feel like you’re living entirely off resort food.

What really sets this place apart though is how it fits into the whole Laguna Phuket ecosystem. You’ve got access to the golf course, the beach clubs, all these restaurants, but Cassia feels like the more relaxed, unpretentious option compared to some of the stuffier resorts in the complex. The staff gets that too – they’re helpful without being overly formal, and they actually seem to know the island well when you ask for recommendations. I had one concierge tell me about this little local seafood spot that I never would’ve found otherwise. The shuttle service around Laguna is pretty seamless, and getting to Bang Tao Beach takes maybe five minutes. Parking‘s no issue if you rent a scooter, which honestly is the best way to explore Phuket anyway. The only thing that might throw some people off is that it can get pretty lively around the pool areas during peak season – lots of families and groups, which is great if you want that energy but maybe not ideal if you’re looking for total tranquility. But even with an 8.1 rating, I’d say this place delivers something different in a sea of similar luxury resorts, and sometimes different is exactly what you need.

  The beach was nice and easy to access and not to crowded as the hotels have there own share of the beaches.
