Cape Sienna Phuket Gourmet Hotel & Villas – SHA Extra Plus Overview
So I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Cape Sienna Phuket Gourmet Hotel & Villas – SHA Extra Plus, the name made it sound a bit pretentious, you know? But after spending a few days there, I actually get why they went with the whole “gourmet” thing. This five-star property perched on the cliffs between Kata Noi and Kata beaches is genuinely focused on the food experience in a way that most resorts just aren’t. The main restaurant has this open kitchen concept where you can watch the chefs working, and honestly, some of the best Thai fusion I’ve had was right there overlooking the Andaman Sea. The location is pretty sweet too – you’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos of Patong, but still close enough to Kata’s surf breaks and that little strip of beach bars if you want some action.
What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to feel intimate despite being a proper resort. The villas are scattered across the hillside in a way that actually gives you privacy – I mean, you’re not hearing your neighbors’ conversations through thin walls like at some places. The infinity pools (there are several) have this thing where the water seems to just disappear into the ocean horizon, which sounds cheesy but works surprisingly well at sunset. The staff genuinely seems to remember your name and preferences, which I wasn’t expecting at a place this size. One thing though – if you’re not great with stairs or steep walkways, just know that getting around involves quite a bit of up and down. It’s built into the cliff face, so that’s the trade-off for those views.
The whole SHA Extra Plus certification thing might sound like marketing fluff, but you actually notice the extra health protocols, especially if you’re traveling during peak season when other places can feel crowded. What impressed me most was how they handle the details – like the villa bathrooms have these massive soaking tubs that face the ocean, and the room service actually arrives hot and properly presented. You’re looking at about a 10-minute drive down winding roads to reach either Kata or Kata Noi beach, which some people might find inconvenient, but I liked having that buffer from the beach crowds. Plus the hotel runs a shuttle service that’s pretty reliable. The spa is legitimately good too – not just some afterthought add-on – and they use local ingredients in treatments that don’t feel gimmicky. For what you’re getting in Phuket, especially considering the food quality and the fact that you’re basically getting villa-style accommodations with full resort amenities, it’s positioned well for couples or anyone wanting something more refined than your typical beach resort experience.

Great location- quiet area, and just a short walk to Kamala beach. Beautiful ocean views. Whilst it doesn’t specifically cater for children, we found it perfect for our family, including our 3 year old. The staff were very accommodating and friendly.

The hotel is excellent. We had a great holiday here. The location is great and the sea views are amazing. We were initially given a room that didn't have as good a sea view as we would have liked, but we went to ask if we could change rooms. We were able to change rooms the next day. Great service. Kamala Beach was within walking distance if you wanted to go to the beach or eat there. The service at the hotel couldn't be better. All the staff are very nice and helpful. Excellent service in all aspects. Special thanks to Mr. Kin and the other hotel staff. Thank you
