I wasn’t expecting much from Blue Skyline Hotel when I first walked up to it – honestly, the name made it sound like one of those generic chain places you forget about five minutes after checking out. But this three-star spot actually surprised me in some really good ways. The lobby hits you with this weird retro-modern vibe that somehow works, like someone’s cool aunt decorated it in the ’90s but kept updating little touches over the years. The front desk staff? They actually remember your name by the second day, which is rarer than you’d think these days.

The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect for the price point, but done thoughtfully. Clean lines, decent beds that don’t leave you feeling like you wrestled a pretzel all night, and – here’s the thing that got me – the windows are actually big enough to make the space feel less cramped. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or fancy robes, but the shower pressure is solid and the Wi-Fi doesn’t drop every ten minutes when you’re trying to video call home. The AC units are a bit loud (pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper), but they actually cool the room down, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. What really won me over was the little details nobody talks about in reviews – like how they’ve got USB ports built right into the nightstand lamps, and the blackout curtains that actually black out the room instead of just dimming it slightly.

Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’ll be posting Instagram stories about, but it’s the kind of place where you sleep well, don’t stress about the bill, and leave thinking “yeah, I’d stay there again.” The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work, and there’s something to be said for a hotel that just… works without trying too hard to impress you.   NEEDS A REVAMP. ! I usually travel alone. And meet up. So my choice of hotels is my choice. This was picked by my friend. The Hotel was in a good location. Out of the noise. But close enough! The reception is clean and the ladies were always happy and chatty. Well done girls. The rooms are old. But cleaned daily And need a re fit. The beds are shocking. I’ve slept on comfier prison cell beds. Gym not been touched for years. Pool is ok tbf. So not all bad. Just spend a few quid. And put it right. Thanks Sissi. I think her name mane receptionist. You always smile and have a chat.

  The big selling point for this hotel is its location. It’s a little bit away from the chaos and mayhem of Bangla Road, which trust me is a good thing, but it’s easily walkable or a short tuk tuk ride to and from there. The beach is also very easy walk from the hotel. Surrounding the hotel there are no shortage of eateries, bars and cafes offering both Asian and European style menu’s. The Malin Market is mere steps away and trust me when I say this was a fabulous location to pick up some amazing street food and very reasonable prices. Also the staff at this hotel were beautiful and very friendly and kind.

  This is great Vale for money Hotel. The staff are absolutely magnificent. I stayed for 3 weeks, and they looked after me like a king. It's about a 1.5km walk to Bangala Rd, but it is easy and so much to see along the way. Marlin market is 2 min walk and has everything. Great food and many choices. I highly recommend this hotel.
