Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Blue Beach Grand Resort And Spa, I was expecting another one of those cookie-cutter beach resorts that look amazing in photos but feel sort of soulless in person. Boy, was I wrong about this place.

This five-star property actually has some serious character to it. The lobby has this gorgeous open-air design that lets the ocean breeze flow right through, and you can hear the waves from the moment you walk in – which, you know what, immediately put me at ease after that long travel day. The check-in was surprisingly smooth too, none of that awkward standing around while they hunt for your reservation. What really caught my attention though was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area. When I asked about good local spots for dinner (because honestly, resort food gets old fast), they didn’t just hand me a generic brochure – they actually gave me directions to this little family-run place about ten minutes down the coast that ended up being incredible.

The rooms are spacious, I mean really spacious, with these massive bathrooms that have both a soaking tub and separate shower. The balcony situation is where this place really shines though – every room faces the water, and the sound of the ocean at night is just perfect white noise. Fair warning: if you’re a light sleeper, you might want to close the sliding doors because those waves can be pretty loud during high tide. The spa is legitimately good too (and I’m usually skeptical of hotel spas). They use locally sourced ingredients in their treatments, which sounds gimmicky but actually makes a difference – the coconut and sea salt scrub left my skin feeling amazing for days afterward. The pool area gets busy around midday, but if you grab a spot early morning or late afternoon, it’s pretty serene. One thing I really appreciated is that even though this place clearly caters to couples and honeymooners, it never felt stuffy or overly romantic in that forced way some resorts do. It’s relaxed luxury, if that makes sense – nice enough that you feel pampered, but comfortable enough that you can just be yourself.

  Lovely sea view from the room which was nice. Hotel was clean, nice facilities. Pool was also lovely and there is breakfast if you’d like to add it on. Staff were really helpful.

  Quiet resort. Plenty of local amenities fir massage, local food. Dome Western food. Great location for water taxi to Banana Beach, coral Bay and plenty of other smaller islands. The hotel staff will help you with any language barriers. Great stay forc4 nights. Also Hidden elephant sanctuary near by which wad brilliant 1/2 day experience.
