The rooms themselves are solid – nothing fancy, but they’ve got that clean, modern Thai hotel vibe with decent air conditioning that actually works when you need it most. I stayed on the fourth floor and could catch glimpses of the ocean between buildings, which was a nice bonus I wasn’t expecting. The pool area is where this place really shines though. It’s not huge, but it’s got this relaxed atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation without shouting over screaming kids or poolside music. There’s something to be said for a hotel that attracts travelers who want to experience Patong without being consumed by it. Sure, you’ll still hear the distant thump of bass from the main strip on weekend nights, but it’s more like background ambiance than a sleep-killing soundtrack. The location means you’re a five-minute walk to the beach and maybe ten minutes to the heart of all that Patong madness – close enough when you want it, far enough when you don’t. I actually found myself using the hotel as a home base to explore other parts of the island too, since it’s easy to catch songthaews or grab a taxi without fighting through the main tourist gridlock.
