I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Balinese Boutique Villa Martin, 3BR, Private Pool, Rawai, I wasn’t expecting much from the street view. But man, you step through that entrance and it’s like walking into a completely different world. This four-star villa sits in one of those quiet residential pockets of Rawai where you actually hear birds in the morning instead of scooter engines, which… trust me, that’s rare around Phuket these days.

The three bedrooms are spread out in a way that actually makes sense – the master suite feels properly private while the other two share a nice bathroom that doesn’t feel cramped. What really got me though was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Balinese aesthetic without going overboard with the carved wood dragons and golden elephants everywhere. It’s tasteful, you know? The private pool isn’t Olympic-sized or anything, but it’s perfect for cooling off after a day exploring the beaches, and there’s enough deck space that you’re not stepping on each other. Actually, I spent most evenings out there with a Singha, watching the geckos do their thing on the walls.

Rawai itself is sort of the sweet spot if you want to be near the action but not in the middle of the Patong madness. You’re maybe ten minutes from Nai Harn Beach – which honestly has some of the clearest water I’ve seen on the island – and Rawai Beach is literally a five-minute walk when you want fresh seafood without the tourist markup. The villa’s location puts you close enough to those little family-run restaurants where the som tam actually has some kick to it, but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with tour groups tramping past your window at 6 AM. I mean, the area does get busy during high season, but what doesn’t in Phuket? The difference here is that you’ve got your own little sanctuary to retreat to. Parking was never an issue either – there’s a proper spot right at the villa, which saves you from the whole “where do I leave the scooter” dance you get at a lot of places.
