I’ll be straight with you, this isn’t some flashy resort with infinity pools and marble lobbies, but this three-star spot has this genuinely warm, family-run feel that’s getting harder to find these days. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that the people here actually care about whether you have a good stay, not just whether your credit card goes through.

The rooms are clean and comfortable – I mean, really comfortable, not just “clean enough” comfortable. They’ve clearly put thought into the little things that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The air conditioning works properly (trust me, you’ll appreciate this), the shower has decent water pressure, and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up with a crick in your neck. What I really liked was how quiet it stays, even when the place is full. You can actually get a good night’s sleep without earplugs, which is saying something. The WiFi is solid too – I was able to work from the room without any of those frustrating connection drops that make you want to throw your laptop out the window.

Here’s the thing though – the staff is what really sets Baan Suwantawe apart. They’re not just going through the motions with scripted politeness. When I needed directions to find a specific local restaurant, the front desk guy actually drew me a little map and told me which dishes to order. That kind of genuine helpfulness is worth its weight in gold when you’re somewhere new. The location works really well too – you’re not stuck in some tourist bubble, but you’re also not so far out that getting around becomes a hassle. I could walk to several good local spots for dinner, and getting transportation to the main attractions was straightforward enough. Honestly, for the price point, this place delivers way more than you’d expect. It’s the kind of hotel where you end up staying longer than planned because everything just… works.

  Having never been to phuket before, we decided to stay in the old town and found this place, it's a reasonably priced spacious room with a decent en suite bathroom. The balcony overlooked the pool and it was all well presented and tidy and clean.
  The staff were very helpful, albeit with a language barrier as my Thai is rubbish and the English is a little broken but we got everything we needed, they even extended our stay with ease.
  
  There is a coffee shop/cafe as part of the building on the ground floor and this is reasonably priced and pleasant.
  
  Across the road is a 24hr supermarket and a bus stop for the free bus that tours the perimeter of old town, giving you easy access to the stops for the other blue bus stops that access the rest of the island.. I'd happily come back! 🙂

  Great location. Very close to old town, but still quiet. Close to Rassada harbour, so recommended if you plan to start island hopping as we did

  It was close to everything, right on the edge of Old Town. It was clean and spacious, and the pool was a great addition. It was good value for money as Phuket can be expensive.

  Large room with balcony, generous bathroom. Clean. Well insulated from other rooms. Good Wi-Fi, measured at 86 Mbps. A short walk brings you to old town.
