Baan Suwantawe Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Baan Suwantawe on Dibuk Road, you immediately get the sense that this three-star boutique hotel understands what travelers actually want. It’s tucked into one of Phuket Town’s most charming neighborhoods — honestly, the location alone makes this place worth considering. The building itself has that perfect blend of traditional Thai architecture with just enough modern touches that you don’t feel like you’re staying in a museum. The attention to detail in preserving the original character while adding contemporary comfort is truly impressive.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Phuket Town — you’re right in the heart of the old quarter where the real character lives. Dibuk Road is lined with those gorgeous Sino-Portuguese shophouses, and you can actually walk to the weekend night market in about five minutes. The famous Thalang Road with all its street art and local cafes is practically around the corner. What’s really nice is that you get free parking right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend if you’re planning to rent a car and explore the island. The neighborhood truly captures the authentic spirit of the city.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for a boutique property — I mean, you’re not getting resort-level square footage, but there’s definitely enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The air conditioning works like a dream (crucial in Thailand’s heat), and the bed was actually comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with a sore back. The bathroom is clean and modern, though the shower pressure could be a bit stronger if I’m being picky. Overall, the accommodations deliver excellent comfort for the price.

Breakfast & Daily Rhythms

The continental breakfast is pretty standard fare — nothing that’ll blow your mind, but it gets the job done with fresh fruit, toast, coffee, and usually some local options. What I actually appreciated more was how quiet the place stays even though you’re in the middle of town. You know how some city hotels can be noisy? This one manages to feel peaceful, probably because Dibuk Road doesn’t get the heavy traffic that some of the main drags do. The serene atmosphere is a genuine highlight of the experience.

Why Guests Love It

Look, couples especially seem to fall for this place — and I can see why. There’s something romantic about wandering through the old town streets in the evening, then coming back to a cozy base that feels authentically Thai without being touristy. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, and they’re full of good recommendations for local spots that aren’t overrun with tour groups. For the price point, you’re getting solid value in what’s arguably the most interesting part of Phuket to actually stay in, rather than just visit for a day trip. This hotel represents an excellent choice for discerning travelers.

Location and staff are so helpful and smiley.

Having never been to phuket before, we decided to stay in the old town and found this place, it's a reasonably priced spacious room with a decent en suite bathroom. The balcony overlooked the pool and it was all well presented and tidy and clean.
The staff were very helpful, albeit with a language barrier as my Thai is rubbish and the English is a little broken but we got everything we needed, they even extended our stay with ease.

There is a coffee shop/cafe as part of the building on the ground floor and this is reasonably priced and pleasant.

Across the road is a 24hr supermarket and a bus stop for the free bus that tours the perimeter of old town, giving you easy access to the stops for the other blue bus stops that access the rest of the island.. I'd happily come back! 🙂

Great location. Very close to old town, but still quiet. Close to Rassada harbour, so recommended if you plan to start island hopping as we did

  • Marukosu from Spain (8/10)

Great location, near the Old Town and major attractions.
    Friendly and kind staff.
Nice room, spacious and with a small balcony to enjoy a drink while sitting and having a conversation with my wife.
Really good pool that we used to cool down and relax.
Electric kettle and a convenient fridge in the room, complimentary water.

This is a fabulous hotel. We booked the deluxe double room and it's huge! Big balcony that overlooks the pool
    Would definitely stay here again.

  • Marian from Canada (8/10)

It was close to everything, right on the edge of Old Town. It was clean and spacious, and the pool was a great addition. It was good value for money as Phuket can be expensive.

  • Uddin from Bangladesh (8/10)

Large room with balcony, generous bathroom. Clean. Well insulated from other rooms. Good Wi-Fi, measured at 86 Mbps. A short walk brings you to old town.
