You know what caught me off guard about Baan sikhao Yanui? I expected another cookie-cutter beach resort, but this place actually feels like someone’s thoughtfully designed home that just happens to welcome guests. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of calm – maybe it’s the way they’ve positioned everything to catch those ocean breezes, or how the staff genuinely remembers your name after one conversation.

I mean, with a 9.6 rating, I figured something special was going on, but honestly, it’s the small stuff that gets you. The way they’ve arranged the common areas so you can actually have a quiet coffee in the morning without feeling like you’re in a lobby. The rooms – and I stayed in one of their standard ones – have this perfect balance where they feel local but not overly themed, if that makes sense. Actually, the four-star rating undersells it a bit; the attention to detail rivals places that charge twice as much. The bathroom alone had me taking photos to show friends – not because it’s flashy, but because every fixture just works perfectly, and there’s actually enough counter space for your stuff.

What really sold me was talking to other guests at breakfast (they do this excellent local fruit spread that changes based on what’s in season). Turns out half of them were repeat visitors, which tells you something. The location gives you that authentic feel without being isolated – you can walk to local spots that aren’t tourist traps, but you’re not stuck if you want hotel conveniences. The soundproofing is solid too, which I always worry about in smaller places. Even during what seemed like a busy weekend, I slept through the night without issue. Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places with higher star ratings that left me feeling like just another booking number, but here you actually feel like they want you to have a good time. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the coast, but it absolutely nails what it’s going for.

  Everything! We wish we had more time to enjoy this place.
  The beach is minutes walk away the spot is great for snorkelling even in the rainy season.
  The hotel itself is charming and well designed, Tucked away on a quiet street surrounded by greenery. There are only a few (spacious and comfy) rooms and 2 terraces, a pool, and a thorougjly equipped common kitchen. We felt at home from the moment we arrived.
  Galahat is also incredibly helpful and welcoming. He helped us with everything from snorkelling equipment to mosquitoe bite remedy.

  Great location right near to the beach, wonderful hosts, who were helpful and friendly, gave all the tips how to get around, you can rent the bike at the same spot. Overall – place has an amazing chill vibe, definitely recommend 🙂

  Great location, 5 min walking from the beach. Very cosy atmosphere, welcoming and helpful hosts. Kitchen has everything you need to cook a breakfast or make a coffee. We stayed with family, so great space to spend evenings together playing board games.

  We loved our stay here! The place has a hippie and relaxing vibe to it and the hosts were so accommodating, friendly and did everything they could to make us feel at home. We were able to make our breakfast in the shared kitchen which was a massive plus. The location is great – super close to a beautiful beach. We would definitely come back if we are lucky enough to come back to Phuket in the future!

  Galahad and Fleur were so welcoming and kind and made us feel really at home. Galahad was very happy to pick us up from the bus stop at Rawai and it was a short trip to the guest house. A fabulous pool to refresh ourselves and the beach just a 3 min walk away. There was a kitchen including a barista coffee machine for us to use and fridge space dedicated to us too. Our room was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated with an artistic touch and very spacious. The space felt safe with a door code entry system. We would def choose to stay here again .
