You know what honestly surprised me most about Ayara Kamala Resort & Spa – SHA Extra Plus? It’s how they’ve managed to create this incredibly intimate atmosphere despite being a five-star property. I mean, when you first pull up to the place, nestled into the hillside above Kamala Beach, it feels more like you’re arriving at someone’s really well-appointed private estate than a resort.

The thing is, most people rush straight to Patong or Kata, but Kamala has this laid-back vibe that’s getting harder to find in Phuket these days. The resort sits just far enough up from the beach road that you escape the motorcycle noise, but close enough that you can still hear the waves if you listen for them from your villa. And actually, that’s another thing – they really commit to the villa concept here. Each one feels genuinely private, with these outdoor bathrooms that somehow don’t make you feel exposed (trust me on this, I was skeptical at first too). The pools attached to each villa aren’t huge, but they’re deep enough for a proper swim, and the water temperature is perfect year-round.

What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail that you only notice after you’ve been there a day or two. The spa treatments use locally sourced ingredients – I’m talking about herbs they actually grow on the property, not just some marketing story. The restaurant sources most of its seafood from the boats that dock right at Kamala Beach each morning, which means the fish is ridiculously fresh. Plus, the staff seems to genuinely remember your preferences after the first day, not in that forced way some luxury hotels do, but naturally, like they actually care. I stayed during low season in September, and while it was definitely quieter (some of the beachfront restaurants were closed), the resort felt perfectly alive and the rates were honestly incredible for what you get. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the wifi can be spotty during heavy rain – something about the hillside location – but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise if you’re trying to actually disconnect.

  I recently had the pleasure of staying at ayara and I can confidently say it was one of the best vacation experiences I’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality that made us feel right at home.
  
  The resort’s location is simply breathtaking. Nestled between pristine beaches and lush greenery, it offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Our room was featuring a stunning ocean view that we could enjoy from our private balcony.
  
  The infinity pool overlooking the sea was a highlight of our days, and the on-site spa provided the ultimate relaxation with their rejuvenating treatments. We also enjoyed the variety of dining options available. Each restaurant offered delicious cuisine, and the sunset dinners were a magical experience.
  
  The staff deserves a special mention for their exceptional service. They were always friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect.
  
  Overall, is a hidden gem that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a getaway.this resort has something for everyone. I can’t wait to return!

  The staff were all so friendly, and made us feel very comfortable. We were travelling with a 6 month old and they made our stay very easy.
  Mr Park and Ms May were particularly friendly and made the effort to greet us every day.
  
  The views from every part of the resort are just incredible. It is breathtaking wherever you look, the lush gardens and the traditional style architecture feels like real thailand! It's nice and secluded away from the hustle and bustle of the beaches, but close enough to pop down to the beach for a quick swim.
  
  The room was spacious and comfortable, with all of the necessities.
  
  We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again.
