It’s tucked away just far enough from the main Surin Beach chaos that you can actually hear yourself think, but close enough that you’re not stuck taking tuk-tuks everywhere.

The thing about staying here is that you get this authentic Phuket vibe without the tourist markup that hits you everywhere else in the area. I mean, sure, it’s not going to blow you away with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but the staff genuinely remembers your name after day one, and the rooms are way more spacious than you’d expect for the price point. The bathrooms are actually decent – I’ve stayed at supposedly fancier places where the shower barely worked. What really sold me though was stepping out onto that little balcony in the morning with coffee and realizing you can see glimpses of the Andaman Sea through the palm trees. It’s not a full ocean view, but honestly, those rooms cost three times as much anywhere else.

The location is what makes this place work – you’re maybe a seven-minute walk to Surin Beach itself, which locals will tell you is still one of the less crowded stretches if you go early morning or late afternoon. There’s this little local spot just around the corner where they do amazing pad thai for like 60 baht, and the 7-Eleven is close enough for those late-night snack runs but not so close that you hear delivery trucks at 6 AM. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra two nights because, well, why deal with moving when you’ve found something that works? The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the property (trust me, I tested it), the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, and the pool area has this laid-back vibe where people actually talk to each other instead of just staring at phones. Look, it’s not perfect – the elevator can be slow during busy times, and if you’re expecting a full-service spa experience, you’ll want to look elsewhere. But for the money and the location, especially if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere real people might actually live, this place hits the mark.

  The hosts are attentive. After arrival in the morning I explained to the host that the shower head was loose and the host quickly arrived with two plumbers to improve the shower.
  
  The property comes with a laundry machine and cooking facilities so I asked for trash bags, detergent and wooden cooking utensils (I believe wooden cooking utensils do not scratch pans) and was provided with these.
  
  One of the hosts was happy to drive us to the local supermarket first day so we could stock up on drinking water for our stay and a few essentials. We treated them to lunch and enjoyed their company.
  
  Good people.
  
  The property having three swimming pools was a nice surprise: top, middle and bottom levels of the building.
  
  PS. The sofa folds out if you feel like watching TV.
