Aochalong Villa Resort & Spa – SHA Plus Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Aochalong Villa Resort & Spa – SHA Plus, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The name’s a bit of a mouthful, and you know how some places try too hard with the fancy titles. But actually, this four-star spot really grew on me during my stay, and I can see why it’s sitting at a solid 8.0 rating.
What struck me first was how they’ve managed to balance that villa vibe with proper resort amenities – it’s not trying to be a massive, impersonal complex, but you’re not roughing it either. The spa element isn’t just tacked on for marketing purposes; they actually know what they’re doing there. I mean, I’m usually skeptical about hotel spas (half the time they’re overpriced and underwhelming), but the treatments here felt authentic. The staff clearly understood the whole wellness angle without being pushy about it. The SHA Plus certification means they’re following enhanced health protocols, which honestly made me feel more comfortable – especially in the common areas and dining spaces.
The villa-style accommodations work really well if you’re looking for something that doesn’t feel like a standard hotel room. Mine had this nice blend of traditional elements with modern touches, and the air conditioning actually worked properly (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue). What I really appreciated was the attention to small details – good water pressure, decent WiFi that didn’t cut out every five minutes, and storage space that made sense. The grounds are well-maintained without feeling overly manicured, if that makes sense. There’s something relaxing about walking around in the evening when things quiet down. I will say the location might not be ideal if you’re planning to walk everywhere – you’ll probably want to factor in transportation costs. But honestly, that also means it’s quieter than some of the more centrally located places, which was actually a plus for me. The restaurant on-site is solid for breakfast and dinner when you don’t feel like venturing out, though I’d recommend exploring local spots too. Overall, it’s the kind of place that delivers on what it promises without any major surprises – sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Best hotels in Phuket range from luxurious beachfront resorts with private pool villas to boutique hotels in historic Phuket Town and elegant properties overlooking Patong Beach and Kata Beach.

The room(s) were fine, spacious and clean and the staff pretty helpful, obviously there is a language barrier but the key staff had enough English for the essentials. The resort is quiet, with nice view over the bay and a small beach accesible from some steps.
The restaurant menu was good enough for several lunch and evening meals and had a good selection for all tastes.
The spa is limited to massages and I had a Thai massage that was pretty good.
It suited me as it was only for a few days to get in the time zone and have two days 'dayboat' diving before joining a liveaboard – so location was quite important and it's in walking distance of Chalong pier.Karen from Australia (9/10)
Relaxing with beautiful gardens and set on the water.

Restaurant food is good, place clean and calm, BUT the SPA, you can totally skip, the massage was more like scrubbing with oil, disappointment!!! All the rest really good.

It’s more of a report than I expected. Very nice alternative to staying in the chaotic part of Phuket. Was happy to have a little seclusion. Great little restaurant and general vibe. Staff was super helpful. Nice spot.

I got used to being there as at first I hated it, the staff were very nice. The setting was good. The room was clean.
Julia from Germany (7/10)
We had a very big spacious room and I really liked the way the facilities are set up with 2 pools and the one pool being at the beach.

Breakfast was great

Loved the effort of the new years party. The members of staff work really hard! Loved the omelet te station and the pool facilities. Although it's not a swimming beach we loved looking at the yachts and bay.
