I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Anona Beachfront Phuket Resort-SHA EXTRA PLUS, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from the name (that SHA EXTRA PLUS bit had me curious). But you know what? Sometimes the places with the most complicated names end up surprising you the most, and this four-star spot definitely falls into that category.

The thing that got me right away was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between feeling upscale without being stuffy about it. I mean, you’re literally steps from the sand – and I’m talking actual steps, not that “beachfront” nonsense where you need a shuttle and a prayer to see water. The beach here isn’t the most famous stretch in Phuket, which honestly works in your favor because you’re not fighting crowds of tour groups for a decent spot to plant your towel. The staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests, not just going through the motions, and check-in was refreshingly quick. I actually appreciated that they remembered my name by the second day – those little touches matter when you’re trying to unwind.

What really sold me on this place was how they’ve thought about the practical stuff that other resorts sometimes overlook. The rooms have these massive windows that actually open (revolutionary concept, right?), so you can get that ocean breeze without cranking the AC to arctic levels. The pool area doesn’t turn into a speaker war zone, which seems rare these days, and there’s enough shade that you won’t get completely torched by 2 PM. The restaurant situation is solid too – not mind-blowing, but way better than resort food has any right to be, and they don’t charge you a small fortune for a decent pad thai. I spent a good chunk of time just hanging out on my balcony with morning coffee, watching the longtail boats drift by and listening to the waves do their thing. It’s one of those places where you actually slow down instead of feeling like you need to pack every minute with activities. Sure, it’s not going to win any architectural awards, and the WiFi gets a bit moody during peak hours, but sometimes you find a place that just feels right, you know?

  Great location. In front of the beach, next to a little Thai food market. Nice, modern and spacious room with giant bed which was big enough for 2 adults and our 2 little kids. Perfect place to stay for couple of days.

  We are a couple. We got the most highest facilities from this hotel the room was fancy and nice. But one of the day we decided to hit the jacuzzi and it didnt function properly the hotel members contacted us so that they can fix it. That took around 2 hours. We had to vacate the room for a while. It’s quite not worth for the money we paid. Technically it was around 15k Thai Bhat. All they did is provided us a lunch for the next day as a compliment with so much restrictions which was we can only choose chicken and porks. No steak was allowed. You ruined our moments in the hotel and this is how they made up.
