You know what caught me off guard about AM Surin Place – SHA Extra Plus? It’s one of those places that doesn’t scream luxury from the outside, but once you settle in, you realize it’s exactly what you needed. I mean, it’s a three-star property, so you’re not walking into marble lobbies or anything fancy, but honestly – sometimes that’s a relief.

The thing about staying in Surin is that you’re right in the thick of things without the chaos of some of the busier beach towns. This place gets that balance right. The staff actually remembers your name after day two (which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re dragging yourself back after a long day at the beach), and the rooms are clean in that “my Thai aunt would approve” kind of way. The air conditioning works properly – and trust me, I’ve stayed at pricier places where that wasn’t a given. The beds are firm, which took me a night to get used to, but I slept better than I had in weeks.

What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole SHA Extra Plus thing without making it feel like you’re staying in a medical facility. The health protocols are there, but they’re woven in naturally, so you feel safe without feeling restricted. The location puts you close enough to Surin Beach that you can walk there in flip-flops, but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the late-night party noise that drifts up from the beachfront bars. There’s this little family-run restaurant about two minutes away that serves the best pad see ew I had on the entire trip – the hotel staff pointed me toward it, actually. The Wi-Fi reaches the pool area, which was clutch for those mornings when I wanted to catch up on work before the day got too hot. Look, it’s not going to be the highlight of your Instagram feed, but it’s the kind of place where you can actually relax and remember why you wanted to travel in the first place. Sometimes that’s worth more than all the fancy amenities in the world.

  The location is perfect—just one minute to the main road with restaurants and massage places, and a 5-minute walk to the beautiful Surin Beach. The hotel staff is very helpful and super friendly. The breakfast they prepare is amazing, and I recommend opting for a room with breakfast included. The room is spacious, and the bathroom is large. We also had a nice balcony. Since the sea is so beautiful, we didn’t use the swimming pool. Their airport transfer service is 700 baht, which is the same price as other airport services. The hotel also offers a 10% discount at the best restaurant on the beach, Audy Restaurant. The food there is excellent, and the prices are affordable. The restaurant also has sunbeds available for the beach. If the sunbeds are fully booked, Am Surin provides a free umbrella, beach towel, and mat.

  The room was very good, big clean and modern for Thailand. We had a tv with Netflix, full mini fridge with drinks and beverages and also some snacks. It was very convenient that the hotel offered optional breakfast which was very tasty and good value for money.

  Surin Beach is clean with great waves and Laem Singh beach worth a trip by long tail or jet ski .. one restaurant there on the cliff … beach is beautiful
  Recommend Tukky massage opposite rear entrance of hotel… best one so far!
