Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of resorts claiming to be five-star, but A2 Pool Resort – SHA Plus actually delivers on that promise in ways that genuinely surprised me. The first thing that hits you when you walk into the lobby isn’t some overwhelming marble monstrosity – it’s this perfectly balanced sense of luxury that doesn’t scream at you. The staff greeted me like I was an old friend they hadn’t seen in months, which honestly set the tone for everything that followed.

What really makes this place special, though, is how they’ve nailed the pool situation – and I mean really nailed it. Most resort pools are either too crowded or too boring, but A2 has created these different zones that somehow work for everyone. There’s this quieter section where you can actually read a book without someone’s kids doing cannonballs three feet away, and then there’s the livelier area where, you know, if you want that energy, it’s right there. The water temperature is consistently perfect, which sounds like a small thing until you’ve been to places where it feels like swimming in lukewarm soup. I spent way more time poolside than I originally planned, and that’s coming from someone who usually gets restless sitting still for more than an hour.

The rooms deserve a mention too – mine had this view that I’d just sit and stare at during my morning coffee. Not Instagram-perfect necessarily, but real and beautiful in a way that made me want to stay longer. The bed was one of those situations where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed, and the air conditioning actually worked quietly, which if you’ve traveled much in tropical areas, you know is not always a given. Honestly, the whole SHA Plus certification thing initially seemed like marketing speak to me, but after experiencing their health and safety protocols firsthand, I get why they make a big deal about it. Everything felt clean and well-maintained without being sterile or impersonal. The service struck that sweet spot between attentive and not hovering – they remembered my name and my coffee preference by day two, but I never felt like I was being watched or bothered when I wanted to just chill out and do nothing.

Hotel in Phuket booking should be done early, especially during high season when the island hosts internationally celebrated beach parties and cultural festivals at Patong Beach and other iconic locations.

  Breakfast was great. Simple crossoint, cereal, eggs, salad, coffee plus soup and rice options. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The local market was great, on every night 20 minutes walk away. Taxi to town was 160 bhat with grab very reasonable. Also near the water park which we really enjoyed on boxing day.

  We really enjoyed our stay at A2 pool resort, the staff were friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. We had a room that lead directly out to the pool which was absolutely amazing! I loved being able to just sit and dip my feet in or hop in at any time. The rooms were clean and well styled. The pool area looks lovely and is of good temperature – also love the kayaks! We only ate in the restaurant one evening but the food was lovely! The hotel is a short taxi ride to old town and other areas which sr cheap and easy to book through the bolt app.
